Clinical hypnotherapy in Hamilton, VictoriaAnxiety that hasn’t shifted with talking alone.

Anxiety is a nervous system doing its job too well, in a situation that no longer calls for it. Hypnotherapy works with that system directly.

If you are here, you have probably already tried the reasonable things. You understand your anxiety. You can name the triggers. You may have read widely, or done a course of talking therapy that helped you think about it differently without much changing in your body.

That gap is the point. Anxiety is not primarily a thinking problem. It lives in the parts of the nervous system that were never built to take instruction from logic, which is why insight alone so often fails to shift it.

How the work goes

Hypnotherapy gives us access to the level where the pattern is actually held. In trance you remain aware and in control — it is closer to the absorbed state of being lost in a book than to anything you have seen on television. From there we work with the response itself: what sets it off, what it is protecting, and what it might do instead.

I use Function-Focused Hypno-Psychotherapy, which integrates hypnosis with cognitive, psychodynamic and solution-focused approaches. In practice that means structure where structure helps and depth where it is needed.

What people bring

Generalised worry that never quite switches off. Social anxiety. Performance and presentation fear. Panic. Health anxiety. Anticipatory dread before specific situations. Anxiety that arrived with a life change and never left.

I am a clinical member of the Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association. Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical or psychiatric care, and I am glad to work alongside your GP or psychologist.
